National Guidelines for MBBS/BDS Admissions via NEET-UG
As per the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019 and the relevant regulations, admission to 100% of the MBBS and BDS seats in India shall be made through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG).
This mandate applies to all medical and dental colleges across the country, including:
All government, private, deemed, and minority institutions.
Seats under all reservation categories (All India Quota, State Quota, Management Quota, NRI Quota, etc.).
Single National Exemption:
The only exception to this rule is for admissions to AIIMS, New Delhi and JIPMER, Puducherry, which, following the NMC Act, have now also been integrated into the NEET-UG process. There is no separate entrance exam for any undergraduate medical/dental course in India.
To be eligible to appear for NEET-UG and seek admission, a candidate must fulfill the following academic criteria:

4. Number of Attempts:
There is no restriction on the number of attempts for NEET-UG.
Primary Authority: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is the sole conducting body for NEET-UG. All official notifications, information bulletins, and application portals are hosted on the NTA website (https://neet.nta.nic.in/).
State-Specific Rules: While NEET-UG is the single entrance exam, admission and counselling are conducted separately for All India Quota (AIQ) seats (by the Medical Counselling Committee - MCC) and State Quota seats (by respective State Counselling Authorities). Eligibility norms, domicile requirements, and reservation policies for state seats can vary.
Mandatory Verification: The provided academic and personal details are subject to verification during the counselling and admission process. Any discrepancy can lead to disqualification.
Stay Updated: Regulations can be subject to change. Candidates must exclusively rely on the official NEET-UG Information Bulletin for the current academic year released by the NTA for definitive rules on syllabus, exam pattern, admit card release, and counselling schedules.
